Animation & Other Creative Work

Maya is also a professional animator and writer. She has not only produced her own short films and original stories, but she has produced animation for a number of social good projects. In 2016 during the Obama Administration, Maya made history when she was commissioned to produce, animate, and narrate the opening of the first ever digital report presented to Congress. The report was created to get an American Museum of Women’s History built in Washington.

Maya has also honed her skills taking 3 years of summer classes at the Savannah College Of Art and Design which she received scholarships for. She has received major interest in her animated series concepts. Over 11 years since starting in 2008 at 8 years old, she has been able to cultivate an audience and interest in her works current and upcoming. Her projects have been featured by Toon Boom, Adobe Project 1324, The View, Huffington Post, and much more, including a number of events such as TEDWomen, The Bronze Lens Film Festival, Google (for their Made With Code initiative to get more girls in STEM/STEAM), and even MomoCon (one of the fastest growing all-ages pop culture conventions in the country) during a Women in Animation Panel that Maya spoke on along side women in the industry who have worked on series such as Cartoon Network's Steven Universe, Spongebob Squarepants, Archer, and more.
